Christmas Ornament Dough

Makes approximately 30 small ornaments

  • 4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • ¼ cup cinnamon
  • 3 Tbsp nutmeg
  • 2 Tbsp ground cloves
  • About 1 ½ cup lukewarm water

Sift dry ingredients together. Add water until dough is the consistency of molding clay. For a better batch, wrap dough in plastic and refrigerate overnight. But if you can’t wait, go right ahead! After cookie ornaments are shaped, bake in a preheated 300°F oven for about 1 hour. (Dough can be glazed with egg white before baking for richer color. Though not necessary, a guaranteed way of preserving the ornaments is to brush them with a polyurethane after cooking.)
